Well three months later, the interview has finally made it through Yahoo! public relations and is ready to be released to you with all of its sanitized PR speak goodness. Tristan is also the author of Cage Fighter, the application that removes those awful mail icons from Mail.app in 10.4.Īfter I tracked down Tristan, I interviewed him in July. Tristan O'Tierney, now an employee of Yahoo!, has worked on the Colloquy project, been a contributor to Open Darwin and the CocoaMySQL project, and written the popular programming tutorial Objective C Beginners Guide. It was actually a contributor to the Colloquy project: Tristan O'Tierney. ![]() I finally decided to go ask Tim Hatcher (of Colloquy fame and now Apple employee) and he had the answer for me. Justin Wood (Creator of Proteus)-negative, working for Apple now. Adam Iser (Creator of Adium)-nope, he is busy with another large company. I looked for folks I knew were involved in the Mac IM projects in the past. I thumbed through my rolodex in search for who might be responsible for this program. I had a feeling that this new build wasn't done by any old Yahoo! employee: this was a new hire. ![]() The new client reminded me of the other Mac-only clients, clients like Adium, iChat, and Proteus. Gone was the once awful interface, replaced by a much more OS X-like user interface. When I first discovered the Yahoo! Messenger beta back in July of this year, I was pleasantly surprised.
